Some LDS apologists have referenced the Philadelphia Sunday Mercury (5 May 1861) showing that Joseph's prophecy about the then-future Civil War, as recorded in the opening verses of D&C 87, were not "obvious" as they concluded, "Have we not had a prophet among us?" (e.g., Jeff Lindsay's discussion of Joseph Smith's fulfilled prophecies).
