Dan Vogel on Anti-Universalist Rhetoric in the Book of Mormon

Recently, Dan Vogel has posted a video arguing that the Book of Mormon reflects 19th century American anti-Universalism:

To understand how weak much of Vogel’s arguments are, see a review of his essay on this topic from New Approaches to the Book of Mormon: Explorations in Critical Methodology, ed. Brent Metcalfe (Signature Books, 1993) by Martin Tanner:

A related paper would be that of Barry R. Bickmore, The Tanners on the Hereafter: A Case Study in "Studied Ignorance"

In my article, On Not Understanding the Book of Mormon, on pp. 183-85, I refute Vogel on the issue of NHM/Nahom (for a lengthier "beat-down" of Vogel, see Book of Mormon Minimalists and the NHM Inscriptions: A Response to Dan Vogel by Neal Rappleye and Stephen Smoot).

For a discussion of Vogel’s very errant methodologies and criticisms against the Book of Mormon, see Kevin Christensen’s excellent paper, Truth and Method: Reflections on Dan Vogel’s Approach to the Book of Mormon
