Why Letter VII Does not Support "Heartlander" Claims

While the majority of LDS scholars and apologists, myself included, place the Book of Mormon in Mesoamerica, some hold to the "Heartland" model. One defender of this position, Jonathan Neville, is obsessed with the claim that Letter VII, authored by Oliver Cowdery and published in the early LDS periodical, the Messenger and Advocate, is "proof" of this model.
