Daniel 9:14 and the Intrinsic, not Merely Declared, Righteousness of Yahweh's Works

Therefore hath the Lord watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the Lord our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice. (Dan 9:14)

In this passage, Yahweh is said to “do” (עשׂה; ποιεω) works (מַעֲשֶׂה; ποιησις) that are “righteous” (צַדִּיק; δικαιος). Such works are not merely declared to be righteous/just; such works are recognised as being righteous because they are intrinsically righteous deeds.

Such a text serves as a good counter to errant Protestants who think that someone or something being deemed as righteous/just is a forensic declaration merely—it is not “either-or” but it is “both-and” (in this case, while a legal declaration of sorts exists, it is a declaration recognising the intrinsic reality of such works).
