1849 English Hymnal of the Church Using "Jehovah" for the Father and the Holy Spirit

 In a hymnbook published by the Church in Liverpool, we have a few instances where "Jehovah" is used of the Father (to the exclusion of Jesus) as well as being used for all three persons of the Godhead:

A Collection of Sacred Hymns, For The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Europe, selected by Brigham Young, Parley P. Pratt, and John Taylor (8th ed.; Liverpool: Orson Pratt, 1849)

Hymn 57:

Jehovah, God the Father bless:

And thy own work defend;

With mercy's outstretched arms embrace,

And keep us to the end.

Preserve the creatures of thy love,

By providential care,

Conducted to the realms above,

To sing thy goodness there.

Jehovah, God the Son, reveal

The brightness of thy face;

And all thy pardoned people fill

With plenitude of grace.

Shine forth with all the Deity,

Which dwells in thee alone;

And lift us up, thy face to see

On thy eternal throne.

Jehovah, God the Spirit, shine,

Father and Son to show;

With bless ineffable, divine,

Our ravished hearts o'erflow

Hymn 129:

Sing to the great Jehovah's praise;

All praise to him belongs:

Who kindly lengthens out our days

Demands our choices songs

. . . .

Father thy mercies past we own,

Thy still continued care;

To thee presenting, through thy Son,

Whate'er we have or are.

Hymn 151:

This is my Son, Jehovah cries,

The echoing voice from glory flies,

Oh, children, hear ye him;

Hark! 'tis his voice; behold he cries,

Repent, believe, and be baptized,

And wash away your sin.
