Protestant Apologist: If there was no Bible, one could not believe that Jesus was the Son of God

In a recent interaction between an agnostic and a Protestant, we see how truly cancerous (1) Sola Scriptura and (2) Protestantism are:

Steve McRae (agnostic): But how would you come to the conclusion that Christ was the Son of God if there wasn't ever this book that existed to tell you this?

Jonathan McLatchie (Protestant): Well then, in that case, there would not in my opinion be sufficient grounds for believing that proposition to be true. So, if there were no Bible, then I wouldn't have sufficient grounds for believing it, and so I wouldn't believe it. In fact, if there was no Bible, I would almost certainly never have heard of Jesus. (Why I Am / Am Not a Christian: Dr. Jonathan McLatchie & Steve McRae in Dialogue, beginning at the 41:41 mark)
