In
Mk 9:1, Jesus predicts that “some who are standing here will not taste death
until they see the Kingdom of God coming with power.” It is clear that “some”
in this story refers to the three disciples Peter, James, and John. In Mark,
these three constitute an inner core of the already special group of the twelve
for Jesus’ ministry. In Galatians 2:9, Paul even calls them the “three pillars
