Lorenzo Snow (May 18, 1899) on the Importance of Jackson County Being Built by the Latter-day Saints

President [Lorenzo] Snow read from the Book of Doctrine and Covenants: “Vision.” Kirtland Temple 3d April, 1836.

He remarked there are thousands and thousand of young men called to go on missions and it is gratifying to be able to state that I can call to mind but one failure in responding that they will be ready to go and do their best.xxx. The time has now come that every Latter-day Saint pay Tithing in full. This is the Word of the Lord and is to be told to the Saints in every Stake of Zion.xxx Mothers,--Teach your children to pay their Tithing while they are young.xxx. We will not hear the Lord’s voice until Jackson County is built up by the Saints.xxx I don’t want anyone sent to the Temples to receive the Second Anointings unless they pay their full tithing.xxx (James Godson Bleak, The Annals of the Southern Mission, May 18, 1899, in The Annals of the Southern Mission: A Record of the History of the Settlement of Southern Utah, ed.
