Isaac Kalimi on 2 Chronicles 34:28 (// 1 Kings 22:22)

In 2 Chr 34:28 (// 1 Kgs 22:22) the Chronicler presented the prophecy of Huldah, the prophetess regarding Josiah: “I will gather you to your ancestors and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, so that your eyes do not see all the disaster that I am bringing on this place and its inhabitants.” True, Josiah was not witness to all the disaster that the Lord brought on the people and the land. However, the story of Josiah’s death in the war against Necho, king of Egypt, in the Valley of Megiddo contradicts Huldah’s prophecy “you shall be gathered to your grave in peace,” demonstrating clearly that the prophecy was not fulfilled in its entirety. The Chronicler did not touch this problem. (Isaac Kalimi, The Reshaping of Ancient Israelite History in Chronicles [Winona Lake, Ind.: Eisenbrauns, 2005], 383)
