Stephen D. Ricks et al. on the Etymology of "Jacobugath"(cf. 3 Nephi 9:9)

Etymology: The Lehite GN JACOBUGATH may be a combination of the names/words JACOB plus -U-, “and,” plus -GATH, “[olive/wine] press,” thus, literally, “Jacob and the press.” Alternatively, JACOBUGATH may be a combination of Jacob and a hypothetical variant pair *-Ogath/-Ugath, thus “Jacob of/at Ugath/Ogath.” Perhaps the location JACOBUGATH is identical with the Jaredite city of Ogath.
