Lucas Osiander (1534-1604) (son of Andreas Osiander) on Baptism and Romans 6:7

Freed from Sin. Lucas Osiander: For the ones (mentioned earlier) who have died with Christ in a spiritual manner through baptism, have been justified from sin. So sin is no longer imputed to them, whether original sin or sins committed. Therefore, having been freed from sin, let us have no more relations with it; and although sin remains within this life as a result of our inability to tear out the flesh, nevertheless let us not yield to its lusts. Explication of Paul’s Epistles (1583). (Romans 1–8: New Testament, ed. Gwenfair Walters Adams, Timothy George, and Scott M. Manetsch [Reformation Commentary on Scripture 7; Downers Grove, Ill.: IVP Academic, 2019], 329)
