2 Tim:3.16 with its emphasis on all
Scripture, πασα γραφη θεοπνευστος (all Scripture/all Scripture
is inspired by God), which—due to this dual emphasis of all-inclusiveness and
openness—may very well include not only the ‘Old Testament, but (through
anticipation) ‘New Testament’ writings as well, that is, all Scripture/all
Scripture. (Thomas Bokedal, The Formation and Significance of the
Christian Biblical Canon: A Study in Text, Ritual and Interpretation [London:
Bloomsbury Academic, 2014], 6 n. 12)
One could also add it allows for anticipation of other inspired
scripture after the NT-era, too; at the very least, contra many Protestants, it does not teach the Protestant understanding of sola/tota scriptura.
