JST 1 Chronicles 21:15: The Reality of God's Wrath and the Appeasement/Propitiation Thereof

In the JST of 1 Chron 21:15, while Joseph Smith made some changes to the verse, Joseph retains the verse speaking of God’s emotions (wrath) and the theme of his wrath being “stayed” (compare the concept of propitiation):

1 Chron 21:15:

KJV

1867 Inspired Version (RLDS)

And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the Lord beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it. And the angel stretched forth his hand unto Jerusalem to destroy it; and God said to the angel, Stay now thine hand, it is enough; for as he was destroying, the Lord beheld Israel, that he repented him of the evil; therefore the Lord stayed the angel that destroyed, as he stood by the threshing-floor of Ornan, the Jebusite.

Old Testament Manuscript 2, p. 78:

Verse 15  And the Angel streached forth his hand unto Jeru-salem to distroy it; and God said to the Angel, Stay now thine hand, it is enough[;]<,> for as he was distroying, the Lord beheld Israel, that he repented him of the evil; therefore the Lord stayed the Ange <that distroyed,> as he stood by the threshing floor of Ornan, the Jebuzite.
