Joseph Smith's February 25, 1844 Prediction that the Saints Would Escape their Old Enemies Within 5 Years

On February 25, 1844, Joseph Smith

  

prophesied that within five years we should be out of the power of our old enemies, whether they were apostates or of the world, and told the Brethren to record it, that when it comes to pass they need not say they had forgotten the saying.

 

By February 1849, the Saints were gathered in Utah (first entering the area in July 1847) and had, by that time, escaped "the power of our old enemies."
