Isaiah 22—Attributes
of the Savior
Isaiah’s words are filled with
statements that anticipate the Lord’s coming mission as Savior and Healer of
mankind—the One who will open the gates of salvation and exaltation for the faithful
and obedient. We see reflected in powerful symbols the qualities of redeeming grace
central to the Lord’s mission, among others: the key (author of salvation),
the nail (executor of the Atonement), the feast (bringer of
truth), the crown, (sovereign of peace and glory), and the stone (foundation
for the kingdom of refuge). (Ed J. Pinegar and Richard J. Allen, Unlocking
