Craig Blomberg on the Millennium

The following lectures by Evangelical NT scholar Craig Blomberg are pretty sound interactions with the various views of Millennialism, showing the problems inherent within post- and a-Millennlaism. As Latter-day Saints are premillennialists, LDS readers of this blog should enjoy these lectures:

The Problems with Postmillennialism

The Anticlimax of Amillennialism

“Inappropriately Privileging Israel: Why Historic Premillennialism Trumps Dispensationalism"

Blomberg co-edited, and contributed to, a rather sound work on eschatology that I would recommend:

A Case for Historic Premillennialism: An Alternative to "Left Behind" Eschatology, eds. Craig L. Blomberg and Sung Wook Chung (Baker Academic, 2009)

Another sound volume that I recommend, though it is long out of print, would be:

Robert Shank, Until: The Coming of Messiah and His Kingdom

Admittedly, eschatology is an area that I have not really delved into, in comparison to other areas (e.g., Christology; soteriology; Mariology). However, I do hope to delve more into such an area if/when time permits. I do have an Amazon Wishlist specifically on Eschatology, so if one wishes to possibly see more posts on eschatology on this blog, feel free to send an Amazon voucher (with a note stating which area[s] you want to be used for) my way or send any works on eschatology to my mailing address (my email is IrishDS87ATgmailDOTcom)
