Being "Born Again" in Jehovah's Witness Theology: Limited to the 144,000

In a post The 144,000 in Jehovah's Witness Theology, I reproduced some excerpts from the JW publication The Truth that Leads to Eternal Lif(1968) on the 1440,000. One should note that, in JW theology, the only people who are "born again" (regenerated) are the 144,000, not members of "the Great Crowd." On p. 76 of their publication, Reasoning from the Scriptures, we read the following (emphasis added):

Born Again

Definition: Being born again involves being baptized in water ("born from water") and begotten by God's spirit ("born from . . . spirit"), thus becoming a son of God with the prospect of sharing in the Kingdom of God. (John 3:3-5). Jesus had this experience as do the 144,000 who are heirs with him of the heavenly Kingdom.
