Progressive Mormon Admits that the 1995 Proclamation on the Family is Authoritative

Progressives within the Church (usually those who are regressive leftists) have a special hatred for the 1995 The Family: A Proclamation to the World. In his book, Tabernacles of Clay, Taylor “let’s bet how long until he gets excommunicated” Petrey admitted to the authoritative and binding nature of this proclamation, something many ProgMos tend to deny:

In 1995, the church issued the brief authoritative statement “The Family: A Proclamation to the World.” According to this document of Mormon orthodoxy, “gender is an essential characteristic of individual pre-mortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.” The use of the term “essential” supports the description of Mormonism’s theory of gender as “essentialism.” This binary division of male and female bodies and roles represents both a natural and divinely ordained system.
