The Description of Noah in Damascus Document III:1-4

In his translation of Damascus Document III:1-4, Philip R. Davies renders the passage thusly:

1    Because of it the children of Noah went astrayas did their families; through it they were cut off.

2    Noah did not follow it, and he was accoun[ted a Fri]end (of God) because he kept the commandments of God and did not choose

3    what he himself wanted. And he passed on (the commandments) to Isaac and Jacob, and they kept (them) and were written down as Friends

4    of God and covenant partners for ever. . .
