An Early (May 1833) Example of LDS Use of Genesis 48-49; Deuteronomy 33; Isaiah 11 and Ezekiel 37 to Support the Teaching of the Gathering of Israel

These biblical chapters offer insights on the gathering of Israel and the blessings promised to the children of Israel in the last days. Young may have been using these chapters as scriptural examples to teach New Yorkers of the importance of gathering with the church in the western locales of Kirtland, Ohio, and Jackson County, Missouri. Joseph Smith revelations had directed church members to gather to form a Zion community. (Ibid., 10 n. 31)
