George H. Brimhall (former BYU President) on Man's Relation to God

BELIEFS CONCERNING MAN’S RELATION TO GOD

The intelligence of man is co-existent with God.

Man’s ego is, shall always be, an entity, a self. This belief in the co-existence of the intelligence of God and man calls for a belief in the co-responsibility of God and man.

God from on high lights up the way
For man to go, that’s best;
He makes the possibility,
But man must do the rest.

God moves by laws that never pause
In all his wide domain.
Man must obey higher law, or stay
where lower law doth reign. (George H. Brimhall, Long and Short Range Arrows [Provo, Utah: Brigham Young University Press, 1934], 28)
