In its original form the prophetic and apostolic witness, oral and
written, had the special quality of inerrancy. Inerrancy pertains only to the
oral or written proclamation of the originally inspired prophets and apostles.
Not only was their communication of the Word of God efficacious in teaching the
truth of revelation, but their transmission of that Word was error-free. (Carl
F. H. Henry, God, Revelation, and Authority, 6 vols. [Wheaton, Ill.:
Crossway Books, 1999], 2:14)
