The Apostle compares the Church with the Jewish Temple and says that
the latter was only a type and shadow—its bells, its costly ornaments, and the
high priest with sacrifices. But the Church is the confirmation of the truth. For
all that is performed in her is real, not symbolic, as in the Old Testament
Church: instead of bells, she has the radiant proclamation; instead of costly
robes, she has the glorious life adorned with inward fruits; for High Priest is
the Son of God; her great sacrifice is His divine Body. (The New
