One of the letters I dictated to
the dictaphone this morning was to my cousin, Wallace Smith, the son of William
Smith who recently died at Independence. I sent him a copy of the Book of
Mormon. He claimed to be shocked to receive a Book of Mormon and said that
nothing more than the Bible was needed etc. (Heber J. Grant, Journal, August
