In the
minutes of his School of the Prophets, Lorin C. Wooley, the spiritual
grandfather of Mormon Fundamentalist movements gave the following expansion to
D&C 132 (I am reproducing it as some might find it interesting; it also shows the nature of the revelations one finds from Woolley and other like-individuals and groups):
As a continuation of the revelation (D&C
132), the Lord revealed:
“A man dishonoring his Priesthood and his
marriage covenants forfeits his wives and children; the wives, being released
by the same authority that sealed them, are free to marry other worthy men,
their children automatically going to their new husbands without an adoption
ceremony. Children follow their mother and her sealing to a husband takes the
children with her. Should she remain unmarried after her separation from her
unworthy husband, and her father is worthy and living the Gospel, she and her
children become his.
Christ’s statement (Matt 5:31-32) indicating
fornication and adultery [are] the only grounds for divorce has been modified
to mean that a man may become unworthy of his wife and yet not be an adulterer,
yet she is justified in leaving him and marrying another, under proper
authority.
It is also a part of the revelation that
while a man might take ten virgins under a vow of marriage as concubines, yet
he is under obligation to have them sealed to him at the first opportunity.
Hagar was thus sealed to Abraham after his son was born and she had left
Abraham’s tent. Melchizedek came to Abraham and instructed him to send for
Hagar and have her sealed to him. Abraham inquired if such was necessary for
his exaltation along with that of the woman. The answer being, “Yes,” Abraham
compiled and Hagar became his real wife the same as Sarah. (Lorin C. Woolley’s School of the Prophets:
