In his 22
November 1841 dedicatory prayer of Jerusalem on the Mount of Olives, apostle
Orson Hyde (1805-1878) affirmed the eternality of God the Father being divine:
O Thou! Who art from everlasting to
everlasting, eternally and unchangeably the same, even the God who rules in the
heavens above, and controls the destines of men on the earth . . . (as cited in
Yong-In Spencer Shin, Plain and
Precious: Finding the Fulness of the Gospel Through the Bible-Book of Mormon
Connection [American Fork, Utah: Covenant Communications, Inc., 2019], 276)
That the
Father is in view can be seen near the end of the prayer:
O my Father in heaven! I now ask Thee in the name
of Jesus to remember Zion . . . (Ibid.,
278)
