Change to 1 Kings 13:18 in the JST

In 1 Kings 13:18 (KJV) we read of how the old prophet of Bethel deceived the unnamed prophet (which resulted in his being killed by a lion for breaking his fast):

He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.

The JST reads differently. On p. 77 of OT Ms 2, the verse was changed to read:

18 [N]<v>erse He said unto him, I am a Prophet also, even as thou, [And an Angel spake unto me a]<b>y the word of the Lord, saying, bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water, that I may proove him; and he lied not unto him,

Here, Joseph “corrected” the verse to be more positive towards the older prophet; instead of deceiving him, he was trying to “prove” or test the unnamed prophet in his resolve to keep his oath to God to fast while in the city.
