Some LDS apologists have referenced the Philadelphia Sunday Mercury (5 May 1861) showing that Joseph's prophecy about the then-future Civil War, as recorded in the opening verses of D&C 87, were not "obvious" as they concluded, "Have we not had a prophet among us?" (e.g., Jeff Lindsay's discussion of Joseph Smith's fulfilled prophecies). This article would be reprinted in the Royal Leamington Spa Courier (June 1, 1861) was found in the Journal History for May 5, 1861. Here are the images (click to enlarge):
