I just came back from a trip to Missouri; over the past year I have been interacting with two former Baptist ministers (one even ex-LDS); I had the pleasure to baptize both of them yesterday and participate in their confirmation, too. I will not name them until they themselves come out in "public" to their former congregants about becoming Latter-day Saints, but it was a great experience.
Apologetics and faithful scholarship does work; we may not often see it, but apologists do plant the seed, and we are sometimes fortunate to see such seeds come to full fruition.
