In a discourse from April 8, 1844, Joseph Smith predicted that
in the g[rea]t cities Boston
&c there shall be stakes— reserved the pro[clamation] to the last.
In a
letter from April 19, 1844, Parley P. Pratt wrote of his belief that, in
the future, there would be "Stakes of Zion. from Boston, New York and
other seaports on the Atlantic."
The first stake in Boston was organized on May 20, 1962; the first
stake in New York was organized on December 9, 1934.
