Gen 1:26-27 does not claim Adam is
the image (צלם) of God itself but Adam is created in the image of
God. On the contrary, Phil 2:6 does not claim Christ is created in the image of
God—as Adam is created in it—but Christ himself is (υπαρχω) in the form (μορφη = צלם) of God, which is related
to “equality with God” (το ειναι ισα θεω). This fundamental contrast has been largely neglected by
