A few weeks ago, my American friends celebrated Columbus Day. Of course, it is not a "big deal" here in Ireland, although it did spark a couple of discussions about my LDS friends about the character of Columbus and his relationship to the figure in 1 Nephi 13:12, where LDS interpreters have for the most part understood it to be a direct prophecy about Columbus himself.

While I have a rather poor view of Cook's exegetical skills at times, especially on the issue of Christology, he does a good job in this post.
