Wherefore, my beloved
brethren, have miracles ceased because Christ hath ascended into heaven and
hath sat down on the right hand of God, to claim of the Father his rights of
mercy which he hath upon the children of men? (Moroni 7:27)
And may the grace of
God the Father, whose throne is high in the heavens, and our Lord Jesus Christ
who sitteth on the right hand of his power, until all things shall become
subject unto him, be, and abide with you forever. Amen. (Moroni 9:26)
While reading these passages in the Book of Mormon a few days ago, it
struck me that these passages incorporate Psa 110:1, a text that numerically
distinguishes the Messiah from God (the Father), which refutes the claim the
Book of Mormon teaches Modalism (cf. Psalm
110:1 and the two Lords of the 1832 First Vision Account).
What is also interesting is that these texts show, as does many passages
in the New Testament, that Christ is our present
High Priest as well as presenting his propitiatory sacrifice before the Father.
