Commenting on Goliath’s weapons, one scholar wrote the following, providing further evidence of pre-exilic scimitars (BOM: “cimeters”):
[Goliath's] sword is of an Eastern style—the Hebrew term used (כידון, kydwn) suggests a scimitar (G. Molin, “What is a kidon?” Journal of Semitic Studies, 1 [no. 4], 334-37, 335).
