The "Blasphemous" Mariology of the Book of Mormon

In a video that amounted to only chest-thumping and contained little to no substance, Catholic apologist William Albrecht, demonstrating he has never read the Book of Mormon, claimed that its Mariology is blasphemous and represents an attack on the mother of Jesus.

While Mary is rarely mentioned in the text, whenever she is, it is either neutral (a prophecy of Jesus’ then-future coming and the name of his mother being revealed) or positive. For Albrecht and his fans who have not read the text, here are the relevant texts:

And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the great city of Jerusalem, and also other cities. And I behold the city of Nazareth; and in the city of Nazareth I beheld a virgin, and she was exceedingly fair and white. And it came to pass that I saw the heavens open; and an angel came down and stood before me; and he said unto me: Nephi, what beholdest thou? And I said unto him: A virgin, most beautiful and fair above all other virgins. (1 Nephi 11:13-15

And he shall be called Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning; and his mother shall be called Mary. (Mosiah 3:8)

And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God. (Alma 7:10)

Such is hardly a “blasphemous” Mariology or an attack on Mary.

BTW: Albrecht claimed that I learned Greek on “Wish.com.” For Albrecht, anyone who disagrees with him is ipso facto uneducated and stupid. In reality, I studied Koine Greek in a Catholic institution (Pontifical University of Ireland, Maynooth). Anyone who has read my works which delve into Greek (e.g., Not By Scripture Alone: A Latter-day Saint Refutation of Sola Scriptura; Refuting Christina Darlington on the Nature of "Justification"; my book, “By Water and of the Spirit”: The Biblical Evidence for Baptismal Regeneration [if anyone wants a PDF of this book, drop me an email at ScripturalMormoismATGmailDOTcom]) will know I have a pretty good grasp of the language.
