Robert A. Sungenis on Hosea 6:7

Some Bibles translate the Hebrew כאדם as “Like men” (KJV) rather than “Like Adam” (ASV, DR, JB, NASB, NIV, NRSV, RSV, TEV). The discrepancy is due to “Adam” and “man” sharing the same Hebrew word. The NEB has “At Admah” referring to a city near the Dead Sea in conjunction with Admah in Hs 11:8. The Hebrew of Hs 11:8, however, is כאדמה, which contains the ה ending and thus makes it a different word than כאדם in Hs 6:7. The BHS rendering for Hs 6:7 is כאדם, with no evidence of variants.
