Earlier this month, I received a Facebook message from Jason Wallace asking if I would debate James White of on Sola Scriptura. I told him I would, but it depended uon me being granted a temporary visa/ESTA as I am currently back in my native Ireland (I lived in Utah, working for the B H Roberts Foundation/Mormonr for two years, but had to move back over a year ago when I got a new job with a related group, Scripture Central)--sadly, it got rejected. It also looks like he will be debating Jacob Hansen of on April 3.
However, if James or Rich sees this (or anyone else acquainted with James, such as Jacob), do let him know that I would still be willing to debate the topic of Sola Scriptura (even if it were to be 'online'--perhaps we could get Peter Williams who lives in the same timezone as I to moderate? just an idea). James has never debated a Latter-day Saint on this topic before, just RCs (e.g., x3 vs. Matatics; Horn; Pacwa; Madrid; Staples), so this will 'add' to the discussion. I would also be willing to have a follow-up debate on the thesis, "Is the Book of Abraham an authentic translation of an ancient text?" and thus defend something LDS.
Jason proposed this structure
15 mins openings; 10 mins rebuttals; 20 mins cross ex; 5 mins closing
I am fine with that, though if one wants to have 20 mins openings and 15 mins cross each, that would be fine, too.
