1 καὶ εἶπεν Ἁβραὰμ πρὸς Μιχαήλ· Κύριε, τίς ἐστιν οὗτος ὁ κριτὴς,
καὶ τίς ἐστιν ὁ ἄλλος, ὁ ἐλέγχων τὰς ἁμαρτίας; |
1 And Abraham said to Michael, Lord: "Who is this judge, and
who is the other, who convicts the sins?" |
1 And Abraham said to Michael, “Lord, who is this judge? And
who is the other one who brings the charges of sins?” |
2 καὶ λέγει Μιχαὴλ πρὸς Ἁβραάμ· Θεωρεῖς τὸν κριτήν; οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ Ἄβελ,
ὁ ἐν πρώτοις μαρτυρήσας· καὶ ἤνεγκεν αὐτὸν ὧδε ὁ θεὸς κρίνειν· |
2 And Michael said to Abraham: "Do you see the judge? This
is Abel, who first testified, and God brought him here to judge. |

3 καὶ ὁ ἀποδεικνύμενος οὗτός ἐστιν ὁ διδάσκαλος τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῆς

3 "And he that bears witness here is the teacher of heaven
and earth, and the scribe of righteousness, Enoch, |

4 ἀπέστειλεν γὰρ κύριος αὐτοὺς ἐνταῦθα, ἵνα ἀπογράφωσιν τὰς ἁμαρτίας
καὶ τὰς δικαιοσύνας ἑκάστου. |
4 "for the Lord sent them here to write down the sins and
righteous deeds of each one." |
4 For the Lord sent them here in order that they might
record the sins and the righteous deeds of each person.” |
5 καὶ λέγει ὁ Ἁβραάμ· Καὶ πῶς δύναται Ἐνὼχ βαστάσαι τὸ βάρος τῶν
ψυχῶν, μὴ ἰδὼν θάνατον; ἢ πῶς δύναται δοῦναι πασῶν τῶν ψυχῶν ἀπόφασιν; |
5 Abraham says: "And how can Enoch bear the weight of the
souls, not having seen death? or how can he give sentence to all the
souls?" |
5 And Abraham said, “And how can Enoch bear the weight of
the souls, since he has not seen death? Or how can he give the sentence of
all the souls?” |
6 καὶ εἶπεν Μιχαήλ· Ἐὰν δώσῃ ἀπόφασιν περὶ αὐτῶν, οὐ συγχωρεῖται·
ἀλλʼ οὐ τὰ τοῦ Ἐνὼχ αὐτοῦ ἀποφαίνεται, |
6 Michael said: "If he gives sentence concerning the souls,
it is not permitted; but Enoch himself does not give sentence, |
6 And Michael said, “If he were to give sentence concerning
them, it would not be accepted. But it is not Enoch’s business to give
sentence; |
7 ἀλλʼ ὁ κύριός ἐστιν ὁ ἀποφαινόμενος, καὶ τούτου οὐκ ἐστὶν εἰ μὴ
μόνον τὸ γράψαι. |
7 "but it is the Lord who does so, and he has no more to do
than only to write. |
7 rather, the Lord is the one who gives
sentence, and it is this one’s (Enoch’s) task only to write. |
8 ἐπειδὴ ηὔξατο Ἐνὼχ πρὸς κύριον λέγων· Οὐ θέλω, κύριε, ἀποδοῦναι
τῶν ψυχῶν ἀπόφασιν, ὅπως μὴ τινὸς ἐπιβαρὴς γένωμαι· |
8 "For Enoch prayed to the Lord saying: 'I desire not, Lord,
to give sentence on the souls, otherwise I be grievous to anyone.' |
8 For Enoch prayed to the Lord saying, ‘Lord, I do not want
to give the sentence of the souls, lest I become oppressive to someone.’ |
9 καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Ἐνώχ· Ἐγὼ κελεύσω σε ἵνα γράφῃς τὰς ἁμαρτίας
ψυχῆς ἐξιλεουμένης, καὶ εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὴν ζωήν· |
9 "And the Lord said to Enoch: 'I will command you to write
down the sins of the soul that makes atonement and it will enter into life, |
9 And the Lord said to Enoch, ‘I shall command
you to write the sins of a soul that makes atonement, and it will enter into
life. |
10 καὶ ἡ ψυχὴ ἐὰν μὴ ἐξιλεωθῇ καὶ μετανοήσῃ, εὑρήσεις τὰς ἁμαρτίας
αὐτῆς γεγραμμένας, καὶ βληθήσεται εἰς τὴν κόλασιν. |
10 "and if the soul make not atonement and repent, you will
find its sins written down and it will be cast into punishment.'" |
10 And if the soul has not made atonement and repented, you
will find its sins (already) written, and it will be cast into
punishment.’ ” |
