In response to the question "Is it biased to not accept claims to prophecy?" Dan McClellan lets the cat out of the bag in terms of his belief in the Church (or lack thereof) when he says that "In my interpreting and dating of the biblical texts I do not allow for the possibility of real prophecy."
The TL;DR of this is: "The New Testament [and other scriptural] authors were liars" and, for the Book of Mormon, this results in it being purely 19th century in terms of its origins. This is not a once-off comment. He believes that the authors of Mathew and Luke-Acts made up (again, lied) about Judas, which has implications for the Book of Mormon (3 Nephi 27:32; 29:7, attributed to Jesus).
