I am currently reading the Gospel of Mark in Greek in preparation for a dialogue on Christology in 2022, and making some short posts about “missing verses” for those interested in textual criticism on this blog.
Mark 11:26 in the KJV reads:
But if ye do not
forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses
(Mk. 11:26).
This is missing in the NRSV and other translations.
As the NET's note to Mark
11:25 informs us:
A number of significant MSS of various
texttypes (א B L W Δ Ψ 565 700 892 pc sa) do not
include Mar 11:26 "But if you do not forgive,
neither will your Father in heaven forgive your sins." The verse is
included in most later MSS (A [C D] Θ [ƒ1, 13 33] Û lat) and is not likely
to be original. It is probably an assimilation to Mat 6:15.
