David J. Burke (Christadelphian) on "The Lost Books" mentioned in the Bible

The lost books

Throughout the Old Testament, we find reference to other books that are no longer available to us:

Annals of King David (1 Chron 27:24), Books of the Kings of Judah and Israel (2 Chron 16:11; 27:7; 32:32), Book of the War of the Lord (Num 21:14-15), Books of the Acts of Solomon (1 Kgs 11:41), Book of Shemaiah (2 Kgs 12:15), Book of Jasher (Josh 10:13; 2 Sam 1:18), Book of Jehu (2 Chron 20;34), Book of Nathan the Prophet (1 Chron 29:29; 2 Chron 9:29), Book of Ahijah (2 Chron 9:29), Book of Samuel the Seer (1 Chron 29:29), Book of Gad the Seer (1 Chron 29:29), Story of the Book of Kings (2 Chron 24:27), Visions of Iddo the Seer (2 Chron 9:29; 12:15; 13:22), Sayings of the Seers (2 Chron 33:19).

We have no way of knowing what status these books held; all we know is that they were not included in the Jewish canon, and they have been lost completely. It is even possible that many of them no longer existed by the time the Jewish canon was sealed. (David J. Burke, Servants of the Lord: A Bible Study Handbook [Bible Interpretation Series 1; Lively Stones Publishers, 2017], 31-32)
