There are some important differences between the KJV and JST of 1 Kgs 13:18:
KJV |
1867
RLDS Inspired Version |
He
said unto him, I am a prophet also
as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the
word of the Lord, saying, Bring
him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him. |
He said unto him, I am a prophet also, even as thou, and
an angel spake unto me by the word of the Lord, saying, Bring him back with
thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water, that I may
prove him; and he lied not unto him. |
Old Testament Manuscript 2 page 77 reads:
18
[N]<v>erse He said unto him, I am a Prophet also, even as thou, [A†nd
an Angel spake unto me a]<b>y the word of the Lord, saying, bring
him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water,
that I may proove him; and he lied not unto him,
The JST interacts with the italics, removing art and
replaced but with “and.” Also, the JST presents the old prophet as
telling the truth to the unnamed prophet of 1 Kgs 13.
