[David Whitmer] says that he found
Smith and Cowdery out watching for him, on his arrival at Harmony, and that
Cowdery told him that Smith had, by means of his seer-stone, told him (Cowdery)
just when David had started from home, together with all the events of his journey,
even reading the sign of the tavern at which he stopped at night, and knew just
when to expect him to arrive. (John Logan Traughber, "David Whitmer, 'The
Last Witness' of the Book of Mormon," c. 1881-1888, p. 2)
