The Protoevangelium of James chapter 23 Interpreting the Zechariah of Luke 11//Matthew 23 as the Father of John the Baptist

23 (1) 1And Herod was searching for John, 2and he sent forth servants to the altar for Zechariah, saying to him, “Where have you hidden your son?” 3But he answered, telling them, “I am a minister of God, serving in his temple. How would I know where my son is?”

(2) 4And the servants left and reported everything to Herod who became angry and said, “His son is going to rule over Israel.” 5Then he sent his servants back to him to say, “Tell me the truth, where is your son? Because you know that your blood is in my hand.” 6And the servants left and reported this to him.

(3) 7And in response, Zechariah said, “I am a witness of God. Take my blood, 8for the Master will receive my spirit because you are shedding innocent blood at the entrance of the Lord’s temple.” 9And Zechariah was murdered at daybreak, but the children of Israel did not know that he was murdered.
