A few years ago, I wrote a review of Ross Anderson's book, Understanding the Book of Mormon: A Quick Christian Guide to the Mormon Holy Book (Zondervan: 2009). The review, entitled "On not understanding the Book of Mormon" can be found online here.
Benjamin McGuire also wrote a review of Anderson's book (""Understanding the Book of Mormon? He 'Doth Protest Too Much, Methink'") that appeared in the same number of the FARMS Review, which can be accessed here.
Taken together, both reviews show the problems one finds all too often in Evangelical Protestant appraisals of the Book of Mormon. For those wanting a good introduction to the text, one should pursue Terryl Given's By the Hand of Mormon: The American Scripture That Launched a New World Religion (Oxford, 2002).
