The first proposition, that the
Sun, or Kolob, was once a planet similar to the earth, is proven by the laws
of progression as the offspring becomes like unto its parent. No one will
pretend that the earth or any planet has no life, as it is from it all life is
produced, and it is impossible to give that which it does not possess. (Solomon
Clinton Stephens, The Philosophy of the Earth and of Man [Ogden, Utah:
W.W. Browning & Co., 1898], 69)
