We find that the Book of Mormon contained so many truths
in regard to the gospel of Jesus Christ that when we place it beside the New
Testament, and especially with that which was written by Matthew, Mark, Luke,
and John, we have most precious documents. The writings of these four
evangelists placed by the side of that which was written by Nephi and the other
historians on this continent give us what we sometimes call the fullness of the
gospel of Jesus Christ. That does not imply that we in these two books have
everything the Lord wants us to know, for he will yet reveal many things which
will make us wise unto salvation. However, until the Book of Mormon was printed
in the English language, Joseph Smith was not authorized to organize the Church,
but with the Book of Mormon and the Bible, put side by side, he understood the
principles of the gospel and how to organize the Church, being aided by the
