In OT ms 2, p. 119, Joseph did not make any changes to the book of Malachi:
Interestingly,
during a sermon on January 21, 1844, Joseph made a “plainer
translation” (cf. D&C 128:18) of Mal 4:5-6:
The Bible says "I will send you
Elijah before the great & dredful day of the Lord come that he shall turn
the hearts of the fathers to the children & the hearts of the children to
their fathers lest I come & smite the whole earth with a curse."
