Rebecca S. Watson on Red/Reed Sea

I refer throughout this chapter to the “Re[e]d” Sea since “Red” is the traditional nomenclature, but “Reed” is often thought to be a more appropriate translation (Hoffmeier 2005, 83–5); as the issue is not relevant to the present discussion of Habakkuk 3, there is no need to resolve it here and “Re[e]d” is a suitably non-committal form. (Rebecca S. Watson, “’Was your Wrath Against the Rivers?,’” in Conversations on Canaanites and Biblical Themes: Creation, Chaos and Monotheism, ed. Rebecca S. Watson and Adrian H. W. Curtis [Berlin: Walter de Gruyter, 2024], 39 n. 50)
