Note that I am not saying that “Mahan” is derived from Middle Egyptian mḥn (although its association with serpents is apropos of the relationship between the serpent in the Eden narrative and Satan!); I am, however, raising this to show that “Mahan” in “Master Mahan” (Moses 5:31, 49) is not necessarily derived from “Master Mason,” contrary to the naïve arguments of some critics
